Accidentes Geo-gráficos is an attempt to investigate through photography

a story discovered by chance, a traditional story told by Afrocolombians

and shared through generations, one that tells that in times of slavery

traditional Afro hairstyles were used by the cimarrones (maroons) as maps

to escape to freedom. Guided by several testimonies, I intend to bring

together what is braided in the body to what one day was its reference.

I do this without forgetting the journey of crossing through nature is an

element present in many chapters of Colombian History.

The memory of these journeys, of escape and pursuit of freedom is an

invisible mark on the mountains, the jungles and the rivers of Colombia,

and survives as a silent metaphor drawn in the body of its population.

This project received the support from the Alliance Française de Bogota (Colombia) along with the Ecole

Nationale Supérieure de la Photographie d’Arles (France), it is part of the partnership project «Territorios:

Arles à Bogota»
